  2. When will Monkey be released on video in the USA?
Never! It's never been shown on US TV, so I don't imagine it'll ever be released in the USA. However, there IS a way you can get Monkey videos and watch them in US video format (NTSC): 1) Buy it from BlackStar's online video store in the UK (no extra cost for shipping to the US): Monkey Videos (UK) - Where To Buy - Released Videos 2) Get this PAL Monkey video converted to the US NTSC format really cheaply at somewhere like http://www.videoconversion.com Easy!

  4. I live in Canada but originally I am from UK. Could we buy a monkey DVD from Australia & play it on a DVD player in Canada?
Unfortunately not. In Canada, DVD players read region 1 DVDs, while in Australia, DVD players read region 4 DVDs. However, if you have a multi-region DVD player, or if you have a DVD-ROM drive for your PC with appropriate software, you'd be able to play the Australian Monkey (region 4) DVDs. See the DVD Regions web page for details of all the DVD regions.

  7. Hi! Any news on whether the unseen 13 episodes will be released in Australia?
There's no plan to release the unseen 13 episodes in Australia - the earliest this could happen is Autumn 2003, but there's no information at present. However, you may be able to play the UK Monkey DVDs in Australia. These DVDs contain the unseen 13 episodes. See the Monkey DVDs (UK) page - including details of how you can order them from the Internet, and pay no extra shipping charge for ordering from Australia, i.e. the same as people ordering from the UK.

  9. I see that there are subtitled versions of the "undubbed 13 episodes" available in the DVD's sold in England. Is is possible to get Japanese language versions of the "dubbed 39 episodes" anywhere?
A short answer - no. The only way to get them is to find a Japanese person to tape them from the current rerun on Japan cable TV - see this page on my site for more information: http://www.monkeyheaven.com/tvguide.html

  10. Will the dvd set be issued for Region 1 USA any time soon?
Good question - I have heard that there have been talks in the US, discussing getting a US region 1 release - nothing is finalised yet, but hopefully, they'll be released sometime towards the end of 2004. Keep checking out http://www.monkeyheaven.com/ and maybe contact me again for the latest news.

Since the DVD region encoding in Japan and the UK is both region 2, then you would able to play the UK DVDs on your DVD PLAYER. However, you should check that your TV can receive a PAL video input as an alternative to NTSC, otherwise, the picture will appear distorted. Many modern TVs (certainly in the UK) will automatically switch between PAL or NTSC according to the video input received. If your TV will not switch to PAL mode when receiving a PAL signal, you may be able to buy a PAL -> NTSC converter box that you plug between your DVD player and TV (I would imagine that in a country like Japan, such a box would be easy to find?)

  12. Hello What essentially is the difference between the new 'Complete dvd' boxset and the 5 other sets released in 2004? I started buying the individual discs, but i only have 2 or 3. So for me to obtain all the episodes ever inc the unseen ones and be able to have english etc...? what's the best option, start saving £39 x 5 = yikes! or get the complete box? many thanks! yours confused, John Hodson
I'll start with a very brief answer. The UK "Monkey Complete Series" DVD boxset contains the 13 Monkey DVDs that were previously released individually in the UK. These include the 39 episodes we all know and love, along with the 13 unseen Monkey episodes, subtitled into English with original Japanese audio. The 5 digipack boxsets released in 2004 contain the 39 episodes, plus the 13 unseen Monkey episodes dubbed into English (the versions with English subtitles and original Japanese audio are not present here). DO NOT buy all 5 digipack boxsets - the 5th digipack contains only the 13 unseen Monkey episodes dubbed into English - these are already spread across the 3rd and 4th digipacks amongst the 39 episodes we already know and love. So if you've bought the 3rd and 4th digipacks, don't buy the 5th digipack, as it doesn't contain anything new. Other things you get with the 5 digipacks released in 2004 (not in the Monkey Complete Series DVD boxset): - Free double-sided poster with each digipack - All episodes are chaptered - Dubbing cast biographies - Remixes of Monkey Magic - 30-minute documentary "Monkey Nuts- The 13 Lost Episodes" about the redubbing of the 13 unseen episodes - BBC Breakfast interview with David Collings and Andrew Sachs More details of the 5 digipacks here: http://www.monkeyheaven.com/dvdboxsets.html More details of the 13 individual Monkey DVDs here: http://www.monkeyheaven.com/dvds_details.html It all boils down to the question: - Do you want to own the 13 unseen Monkey episodes in English-subtitled or English-dubbed form? A) In English-subtitled form with Japanese audio: buy the cheaper Monkey Complete Series DVD boxset. B) In English-dubbed form, buy the more expensive digipacks released in 2004. C) If you want BOTH the English-subtitled and English-dubbed versions, buy the Monkey Complete Series DVD boxset AND digipack 5 that was released in 2004, which contains just the 13 unseen episodes, dubbed into English
