Bridge House punk / New Wave scene
Many will remember that the Bridge House had a vibrant Punk / New Wave scene back in the late seventies and early eighties which paved the way for local talent such as the Cockney Rejects etc. This is something that we want to continue and in line with this we have formed a relationship with Daggerspunk. Daggerspunk was set up to raise funds for Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club to help the financial side of the club with running a full time proffesional team. Some of the bands that played under Daggerspunk include "The Vibrators" "999" "Tempole Tudor" "Deadline" and many many more. Daggerspunk will from now on operate at BH2 probably on a weekly basis (more on this later)to ensure that up and coming New Wave/Punk bands have a stage for their music. Rock On

I think the last time I saw a band at the Bridge House was some band on the small stage called the Stranglers. Packed, and I was a little too young to be in there. Sipped a few slurps from other peoples beer, watched the band and then moved off. Unfortunately I didn't stay for the whole set coz I had a lift home but at least I was there. Little did I know what was to become of them, I just thought they were a popular local band! |
