you give all of us plenty to think about, and spend endless hours trying to help our sport,but........ don't you think it would be so simple to bottom load the categories instead of trying to come up w/ hypothetical(400pts) hunting and new categories all together or even going to the GTP. i firmly believe GTP is only gonna reflect top speed and drive and if thats the major criteria, i have question how widespread the acceptance of it will be.

Re: heath

Bubba, none of the new changes are my ideas. They all came from a bunch of hunters West of me. The only one I really support is replacing Trailing with the Track Running class. I think that would be a big help. Not, because I dislike a Trailing hound so much but because I don't think Speed and Drive alone is picking the best Running Hound in our hunts. I think Speed and Drive plus Track Running would get us closer to picking the most valuable hound.
The comments I made on the proposed changes were just my spin on what other people are trying to pass. I will likely vote my 10 shares just the way I posted in my comments but I am liking this GTP option less and less every day. I doubt anyone is going to go along with my idea of increasing the Hunting points so I won't be able to support it.

I am nervous about the bottom filling of the classes. In one way it makes it easier for a judge to give the points and you say that it will cause more Hunting scores to be given. That could happen. I am worried that the judges who don't want to give the scores already are going to be afraid to give them because every new hound they score increases the value of the HGA points. Maybe we should try it out and see how well it works. I would still like to see the Hunting hounds keep some more of their points so they can fair better in the Endurance class under Masters Rules. Like I have said before, the classes were never really calibrated and when the 100 points per day limit was set on Hunting, 100 points was a good speed and drive score. Now a good speed and drive score is 400. We ought to increase the credit to the Hunting hounds so they can at least compete for a spot in the HGA.

Re: heath

Good thinking Heath, as long as we don't allow a judge to award 400 pts. H at a single pop. [

ALL THOSE IDEAS COMING FROM THE WEST MUST BE FROM STEVE.
