Thank you to everyone who has posted expressions of concern or offers of help. I am an attender of Baton Rouge Friends Meeting, but I'm unable to provide much information. I left Baton Rouge (and the state of Louisiana) to get further away from the storm and have not yet returned. I've had trouble reaching Baton Rouge by phone since then, and my Internet access has been sporadic at my current location. But I know this much:
Baton Rouge was spared the brunt of the storm. As far as I know, the city suffered nothing worse than widespread power outages. I believe all the members and attenders of Baton Rouge Friends Meeting are safe and sound.
I don't have much information about the members and attenders of the New Orleans Meeting. I've been in contact with a member of the Baton Rouge Meeting who tells me she has managed to contact about half the people from New Orleans Meeting, and several households are currently in Baton Rouge.
That's about all the information I have at this time. I hope to update again as I learn more.
