Norman de Mesquita
Just to update everybody on the health of the former BIHWA Chairman. As you may know, Norman suffered a mild heart attack a few weeks ago. He is currently in the Royal Free Hospital (Hampstead) awaiting a heart bypass operation, but has not yet been given a date. I will update this thread when I have further information. |

Norman underwent a successful heart bypass operation at The Heart Hospital in London today. He is now in Intensive Care, but the prognosis for his recovery is good. As beds at The Heart Hospital are at a premium, it is quite likely that when he has regained some of his strength, he will be moved to another hospital for further recuperation. Meanwhile, I have ensured that the best wishes of the ice hockey community are passed on to him. I will report back here when there is any further news, in particular when and where he may be visited. |

Following his successful heart bypass operation, Norman is now deemed to be well enough to return home to continue his recovery. He is due to be released from the Heart Hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon. Obviously, his activities will be somewhat restricted for a while, so I am sure he would appreciate an E-mail or two from his many friends in ice hockey. |
