Dunfermline Vikings Reunion
I'm trying to get information on a reunion of former Dunfermline Vikings players from the 1940s/1950s which I believe took place sometime in the mid 1990s. (I recall there was an Ice Hockey News Review feature article on it at the time.) Any information gratefully received. Also interested if anybody can confirm whether ex Dunfermline and GB players Tuck Syme and Johnny Rolland are still about - I know Tuck was resident in the USA at the time of the reunion, and couldn't make it over.) |

Ice Hockey News Review, of blessed memory, Volume 14, Issue no. 5 of 26 October 1996, contains on pp 28-29 an account by Alan Westwater of a reunion of the 1939/40 Dunfermline ROYALS. Vikings being the pro team in the Scottish National League consisting of Canadian imports, whereas Royals were mainlylocal Scottish trained lads. The reunion was instigated by a George Simmonds. At that time Tuck Syme was reported to be living in Granada Hills, California. The article does not mention Johnny Rolland. I try to keep track of the passing of British players and have not heard of the passing of either Tuck or Johnny, but that does not mean they are still with us. |
