JEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZ
An old experienced Finisher took me under his wing and taught me a lot - though quite set in his ways many things stick in my mind and he told me once of a job interview he went for.
He was greeted by some young pup - probably just out of Uni on some business degree and most likely the MD's assistant / whipping boy. He was told the wages being offered and this lead to a lengthy speech about how he has served a 6 to 7 year apprenticeship before the kid was even born. He had then spent the last further 22 years honing and perfecting his skills of craftmanship through blood sweat and tears and how wasn't prepared to sell his skills and experience for that price
(The conversation had an extreme amount of profanities to emphasise his utter shock and disgust and the rate being offered by some jumped up little so and so who probably would struggle to half an hour in the bindery doing actual real work)
I could just imagine him almost threating to kill the person conducting the interview
They want an all rounder plus run laminating machine, other hand finishing tasks, stick a broom up their ar$e sweeping as they go not to mention the usual stock control of all papers and supplies etc........
Hmmmmmm - wonder why the vacancy became available, probably the last bloke woke up, saw he was being ripped off and told them where to stick their finishing duties |
