Curtis Ray " Curt " Pace Sr.

Curtis Ray "Curt" Pace, Sr., 69, of Evarts, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Hazard App. Reg. Hospital following a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Evarts. Curt was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a driver of government dignitaries. He was awarded medals as a marksman and a sharpshooter. A very talented musician, Curt enjoyed songwriting and playing his guitar at many area churches. He believed in the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Pace and Mossie Marie Barnes Pace; a son, Randy Cornett; and four brothers, Estes Pace, Arthur Darrell Pace, Jackie Wayne Pace and Jerry Lynn Pace.

Survivors include four children, Curtis Pace, Jr. and fiancé, Brenda Jean Reddington, Evarts; Jeffery Wayne Pace and fiancé, Sandra Cochran Sheffield, Evarts; Matthew Pace and wife, Beth, Dizney; Ashley Cloud and husband, Michael, Evarts; a step-son, Sean Pace and wife, Tracy, Evarts; one brother, Jim Pace and wife, Phyllis, Greenwich, OH; and two sisters, Brenda Pace Burton and Betty Pace Cornelius, both of Madison, IN. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Trevor, Braxton, Christopher, Bralyn and Nathan; a host of nieces and nephews who all loved Curt dearly; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday after 5 p.m. at the Dartmont Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Dartmont Baptist Church with the Reverend Lloyd Ray Burkhart officiating.

Burial will follow in the Harlan County Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Harlan Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
