Buford Jackson Grubbs, 82, of Kenvir, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012, at his residence. He was born on December 27, 1929 in Virginia. He had lived in Kenvir for the past 22 years. Buford was retired from the Budd Company in Detroit , Michigan after 32 years of service. He believed in the Baptist faith.

Buford was preceded in death by his father, George Grubbs; his mother, Melvie Grubbs Presley; and two children, Jackie Grubbs and Andrea Grubbs Guthrie.

Survivors include his spouse, Pauline Grubbs, Dizney; son, Lanny Walls, Frankfort; daughter-in-law, Laurel Walls, Lexington; daughter, Sheila Grubbs Cloud (Ralph), Dayton, Ohio; son-in-law, Dennis Guthrie, Dizney; daughter, Sonya Grubbs Engle (Brent), Harrogate, Tennessee; daughter, Traci Grubbs Bowman (Roger), Evarts; and son, Kevin Scott Grubbs, Dizney. Also surviving are grandchildren, April Walls Mitchell (Rick), Charlestowne, Indiana; Amy Walls Lacy, Washington, Tyler, Matthew (Kristi), and Jason Cloud of Dayton, Ohio; Joshua and Jacob Engle of Harrogate, Tennesse; Paul (Faith) Guthrie of Evarts; Justin Guthrie, Dizney; Taylor Bowman, Evarts; and Tara Grubbs of Missouri. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren, Landon Mitchell, Dylan, Bailee, and Dulcie Cloud; one sister, Barbara Risner and her family of Ethridge, Tennessee; and his very best friend, Gary Cozart of River Ridge.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Evarts Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Locust Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dax Taulbee officiating.

Burial will be in the Evarts Memorial Gardens with grandsons and Gary Cozart serving as pall bearers.
