The TREGARTHEN Roberts

Hi
Watching a TV programme on the Isles of Scilly last night I was intrigued to see a rig on a local boat race named 'Tregarthens'. A web search showed many Scilly references to Tregarthen, which has been my family name for generations. I have traced the Tregarthen Roberts back to the 1660s to a village called Paul, near St Ives, Cornwall. The family were seafarers and many ended up drowned off Cape Cod, the Bay of Biscay and off Australia. I visited the Tregarthen in Cornwall on my 50th and have the photo of me with the street sign. The local churchyard had headstones with Tregarthen on, and we by chance met a local historian who connected many local references to the name. My son now carries the name forward.
