Re-Les Arcs - Bike Bag or Cardboard Bike box

Not had to decide which option to go for. I hear the Neil Pryde bags at £90 are pretty good. What does experience suggest as best?

Cheers

Re: Re-Les Arcs - Bike Bag or Cardboard Bike box

I've tried both bags and boxes and they're both okay, but boxes can get a bit chewed up and then you've got to try and patch it up for the flight back. Bags are tougher, but if you've got a clumsy baggage handler, then they can get damaged in both.

Re: Re: Re-Les Arcs - Bike Bag or Cardboard Bike box

Cardboard boxes can get too badly damaged to use on the trip home, and you can't roll them up and put them in a corner in the chalet. I shall be buying a bag this year after borrowing one last year. Get yourself something to brace the dropouts like an old hub axel and quick release skewer - should stop your bike being wrecked if heavy stuff is loaded on it.

A bike bag might also make a good substitute bed in case the one provided turns out to be a camp bed that falls apart repeatedly in the night, or is a bunk bed with woefully inadequate slats holding the top guy up. Half the guys from Morzine last year will identify with that particular problem.
