Riding this weekend??

Who is doing what/ where should we go. Suggestions most welcome.

Re: Riding this weekend??

How about Afan? Possibly do July or Whites then the Wall? Ending with Penhydd if we are feeling full of beans.

Any takers?

Hwe

Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

if there magic beans I'll come

Afan sounds good to me

Re: Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

I have just bought me some wheels! Am v excited! So I might celebrate by driving to Afan. What time will you get there? Although saying that I always go to Afan so I might not come. Dunno. It's always good there though isn't it.

Re: Riding this weekend??

Gonna go for a local ride 2moro, o even Cwm Carn if anyones around? Will not be out on Sunday as will probably have a hangover but will be out Monday for whatever is going on(Afan/Minehead/Moab!)

Re: Riding this weekend??

Had a suggestion from Chris S that we do the Wiltshhire ride. Good views not incredibly difficult to ride (apparently no granny gear necessary). If the weather is like it is at the mo there is a pub halfway around where we can freshen up West Country cider stlyle.

Any takers or should we stick to Afan number

Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

Doing a reasonable route around wotton, Dursley on Monday if anyone is up for it?

Andy

Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

I'd be keen to try the Wiltshire option as its something I haven't done before. Plus the chance of not using the granny sounds good, as I've been getting a bit of chain suck on the down shift.

Cheers,
Stephen.

Re: Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

Its that connex ss chain Steve. You should give it to me as it would be much happier on my bike.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

No, its far to heavy for you. There isn't a single hollow pin in sight.

Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

There is one hill which needs the Granny gear, not long after the expensive pub. :-)

Perhaps it's the heavy food that makes it a Granny climb.

Re: Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

hello lads

If you do end up doing a last-minute welsh ride this weekend - ie cwmcarn or afan, will you let me know please.
Am sadly stuck in cardiff all weekend, but will be able to escape for a couple of hour intervals if the opportunity arises.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

I would be tempted by the Wiltshire ride. I'm still feeling a bit of an invalid, so a slow ride around flat old Wilts. would be good.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Riding this weekend??

I'm happy to show people the Wiltshire route if anyones up for it. Its about 40 miles, but last time i didnt need the granny ring even on the bit Mike mentioned (it was that pub stop that did it Mike!). About 4 - 4.5 hours. It might sound like a long way off road but its all easy tracks and a few road bits. It starts from Great Wishford which is on the A36 between Warminster and Salisbury - just after the A303 junction. Might be up for Cwm Carn on the Monday.

Meeting point for Wilts ride on Sunday

A few people are interested in this one so heres the details -
Meeting at 10.00am at the truck stop / cafe / ex little chef car park at Codford St Peter on the A36 (between Warminster and Salisbury). You cant miss this place, its massive and its on the left as you head towards Salisbury. We can drive on to the trail head car park from there.
Any probs, call me on zero78one5six0nine85one.
Chris.
