Re: Re: New forks

Why?

Re: New forks

Hi Felix,

Leaving the Marazocchi v Rockshox debate aside. I did notice that Evans cycles were doing Rockshox Reba team 05 forks for £235 (I think), which is £100 off.

Re: Re: New forks

lol - just a bit of banter

I have got Reba SL's (last years) which I am very happy with. I have also owned Marzocchi, which I was equally happy with. I never got full travel though, as they were prob overfileld with oil atthe factory (a common Marz problem).

Marz are built to last and will have long service periods. They will undoubtedly be heavier than the Rockshox though.

I think £ for £, the new Rockshox are hard to beat on features. Those Team forks have got adjustable lock out (floodgate) and air adjustable postive and negative preload as well as external rebound adjustment. Pretty god darn light too.

How much travel do you want? How much adjustment do oyu want? Will you want to mess around with settings a lot? What is your budget?

Do the research. Look at mtbr.com reviews. Take your time and get to learn what is on the market. Google the forks for bargains.

To be honest, you cant really go wrong with either brand.

Re: Re: Re: New forks

Just seen your budget (must read in more detail!). £200.

I would personally stay away from Manitou.

Rockshox Recon U Turn (adjustable travel from 85-130mm) comes in your budget and get great reviews. A tad heavy though (if thats a problem)

Marz MX Comp ETA would also be worth looking at. The ETA function (lockdown) is handy for climbing. Howver, it has internal rebound adjustment, which can be a pain.

Rockshox Cockshox nuff said me homie!!

"Rockshox Cockshox nuff said me homie!!"

Sounds like Damo's been down the pub lunchtime (again).

Dont be put off by the Marz internal damping adjustment. Once its set up right, you shouldnt need to mess with it again anyway. The high oil level issue is resolved apparently - they had a dodgy machine at the factory doing some random overfilling!

I can vouch for their durability and low maintenance-ness so if you like to set them up and then not have to fiddle with them then Marzocchis are for you. Easy to service too.

Down the pub, working on the railway (shakes head) ;-)

Re: New forks

Manitou are pants, dont touch manipoo.

Had problem with my fork within 3 weeks of owning it.
