Re: Some ba***rd stole my bike last night

Thats bad luck :-(

Did this happen overnight or in the morning when you were preparing? Was the car garaged or in the road.

Where abouts in Bristol was it stolen? so people can keep a closer eye out.

Do you have a picture we could host here for you.

Re: Re: Some ba***rd stole my bike last night

Hi Mike,
I put the bike in the car last night ready for an early getaway. It was covered by sheeting and outside the house in a cul de sac in Emersons Green. It feels stupid now, but obviously never did before!!!
Spent most of the day trying to figure out what next, but the answer seems to be "another one just like that". Such a great ride, little to touch it. If anyone knows of anyone selling a 19inch Litespeed or Merlin hardtail please get in touch. I will look for a photo.
Thanks again

Ian

Re: Re: Re: Some ba***rd stole my bike last night

Did I forget to mention a reward? There will be one once I figure out what I can afford (or my wife tells me!!!). Just had the Police forensics out but they only got one print from the car, so my only hope is you lot and ringing round the shops this week.
Fingers crossed

Ian

Re: Re: Re: Re: Some ba***rd stole my bike last night

Hey Ian

Sorry to hear about your stolen bike. I live in Emersons Green as well and normally put my bike in the car over night as the area seemed quite safe. But it obviousley isn't. I'll keep an eye out on my travels.

I have a spare bike if you need to borrow one. Having said that it is a badly maintained Hardrock so is not in the same league as your Litespeed. But you are more than welcome to use it.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Some ba***rd stole my bike last night

Thanks Nige,
That's a really kind offer, I am without a bike at the moment and if the lack of riding gets the best of me I may be in touch. I am hoping to get a replacement within 2 weeks but finding a shop willing to take quite a lot of money seems stupidly difficult!!!

Be in touch

Ian

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Some ba***rd stole my bike last night

Sorry to hear about the theft of your Litespeed, I will get in touch with Total Fitness in Bath so they are aware and they will pass it on to the two other shops in Bath. I think I sent in a photo of your bike late last year when we went up to the Mendips one cold Sunday morning.Hope it turns up!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Some ba***rd stole my bike last night

Thanks Paul,
That's really kind. I don't expect to see it again though, but I do wonder who has it and what they are doing with it. Probably not enjoying it as much as I did.......sob!!!

Ian

PS I haven't done it yet but is it worth phonong all of the shops in Bristol just in case, or do you think that they are conditioned to be suspicious of any oik selling a Litespeed for £100????

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Some ba***rd stole my bike last night

Yeah I think it is worth doing, because they do go into shops trying to buy things like naff pedals and it is obvious they are not in sync with the bike they are riding. I had a bike stolen years ago and the thief tried selling my pedals in a mates shop when I was there! I wont tell you what I did but he never reported it to the police. Will be back riding next weekend (22nd ish), hope to see you out.
