Am I old enough?

I may be a snoty nosed teenager with a habit for mountain biking, but despite how people may try being under the tender age of 18 it feels as though i am slightly intruding.

I went on a ride with some people from the club a few months ago and i felt inadequate, them always waiting for me(ok it was at night with very poor lights), and inability to get myself to anywhere to far beyond ashton court, which i am no slightly bored of after tackling it's twists and turns for many years, despite the occasional 'forgein' trip.

What i am saying is despite what i may think am I just TOO YOUNG and need to wait or is it feasable to come out as i always hold back from going on the rides thinking that i might end up in the same situation again.

Re: Am I old enough?

Hi Nyle,

If you're over 16 then riding with the club is not a problem. As far as "being good enough" goes, we try to never leave anyone behind, and i've found that the best way to improve is to ride with people who are faster than you ;)

There are local "social" rides quite often, and these are generally a much more casual pace.

Keep an eye on the forums, there are frequent away rides to south wales, quantocks, exmoor etc.. If you don't have your own transport, then feel free to post asking for a lift. Guys often meet at the Cottage pub in Hotwells before hand and theres ussually someone with space to give you a lift.

Cheers, Chris
