Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Hi all,
Just starting a thread to see if anyone's interested in going to Afan next Sunday (10th). I've been out on the last couple of Sundays and a few people said Afan would be a good idea.
Namely Phil and Tim who I met at Ashton Court last week + Joe and Damon who were at Cwmcarn today.
(Damon - if there's enough replies to this it may be worth sending out a club e-mail?)

I've only been to Afan once before and did The Wall so will gladly take advice as to what the best trails are. Not a beginner ride, but nothing too hardcore as I've only just started trying to get some fitness back!

Cheers

Paul

Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

I enjoyed Cwmcarn today even if I was lacking in fitness, shame we had to cut it short. I could be up for Afan or somewhere else next weekend.

Re: Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Sorry...can't make Sunday after all. Have a good one ! Steve F.

Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Might be up for it, need to get bike fixed and its a tad early in the week at the mo.

Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Either Damon or Myself will send out the mail.

Please post here when you require it sent.

Best regards,

Mike

Re: Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

I'd like to join you - it'll be my first BMBC ride so I'm not sure what counts as 'moderate', but I can give someone a lift if required.

Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Laura,
I'd say moderate meant steady pace, with occassional stops to regroup and catch your breath back on the ups, and then enjoying a bit more speed on the downs! As a benchmark I think one lap of Cwmcarn took the best part of 2 hours on Sunday, whereas proper cross country whippets can probably do it in half that.

Depending on how many come along on Sunday we could always break into a couple of groups, or if people are feeling fit they can do a few of the trails.

Mike P - I'd say send a mail out soon, just in case people haven't checked the forum this week yet, and hopefully they'll be a few more interested

Cheers

Paul

Re: Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

How about meeting at the Glyncorrwg car park about 10:45 or the cottage car park at 9am.

We could do the Whites level or the July trail

Re: Re: Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

HI James I am not sure how this is all arrange now but babysitter permitting I am heading to Afan before the nasty weather starts again.

I am not sure which trails to ride yet, but happy for suggestions?

If you are up for meeting up then let me know.

Cheers

Hwe

P.S do I need Damon to send an email?

Re: Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Hello,
After confirming with PAul that i would be up for Afan on Sunday, i am reluctantly going to have to withdraw my confirmation, as apparentlty i had already made plans. However, a lot last minute, but would anyone be up for a evening ride in Lea Woods tomorrow night.
Joe

Opps - fecked that up. Should of been Afan. I'll send another e-mail 2morrow.

Rather than Cwmcarn

Only allowed one a day :-)

Re: Opps - fecked that up. Should of been Afan. I'll send another e-mail 2morrow.

I would like to join the ride to Afan, it too would be my first ride out with BMBC. I have a car and can give lifts if required, but will need directions, or to meet and follow.

Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Would like to come on the Afan ride, will be my first ride with BMBC

What sort of time do you normally return?

Can offer lift if required.

Re: Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Hi NIck,

meet at the cottage car park link at 9.00 then head over to the new car park at Glyncorrwg at about 10:45.
Usually back late afternoon.

Re: Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Nick - I'd like to take up your offer of a lift - meet you at the Cottage at 9? Thanks, Laura

Re: Re: Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Laura
no probs, see you at 9. Nick.

Re: Afan - Sunday 10th Sept - ?

Paul, as discussed Afan Sunday 10th Sept. Looks like the meet will be at the cottage car park at 9.00 then head over to the new car park at Glyncorrwg at about 10:45. Hope to see you and Phil there.
Tim

AFAN!!!!

Hi all ... sorry I've been so crap about posting a message. Sunday at Afan sounds cool. Glyncorrwg car park costs £2, but the cafe is well worth it. This gives us White's Level (2 hours tops for an unfit rider) and Skyline (dull, boring and loooong). Might be best to do The Wall and Penhyd (both take about an hour and a half max). We can discus it on Sunday. 09:00 at the cottage parking lot. Bell me on 07979 851072 if you have any queries.

AFAN, Sunday 10th Sept, meet at The Cottage at 09:00, wearing smiles and sunshine!!!

Meet at the cottage at 09:00. This is basically near the S.S. Great Britain. Call me if you have problems.

Any chance of a lift?

hello i was wondering if there is any chance of a lift from the cottage car park to Afan Forest park?

I will share the cost of petrol and the cost of the car parking at Afan.
