ear mites

I forgot to ask about ear mites. The little kitten keeps shaking his head and trying to scratch its ears. It wakes him up when he is sleeping and then he whines. My heart is hurting for my little new baby. We did buy some medicine you put in its ear, we have been doing it for about 2 weeks but doesn't seem to work. Can you help?
