The North Carolina Masters was held at Old 74 ON July 7-9, 2017. We knew this was a hot time of the year but the days preceding the hunt brought unusually high temperatures and heat indexes. The first 2 days the temps were in the upper 90’s with heat indexes 105-110 degrees. These conditions were extremely tough on the competitors, judges and especially the hounds. Despite all these factors the running was great and the judges stayed on the hounds. Several really nice hounds rose to the occasion and put up some unbelievable scores. I would like to congratulate all that placed and finished this hunt. In the end our winners were Va State FC P and J’s Dallas (Ch. Whisenant’s Jimmy B/Patterson’s Mindy); Bukskin Creek Kennels in the Derby and Ch. Forty Creek Spot (Ch. High Cotton Rowdy/High Cotton Martini); Forty Creek Kennel, Southport, NC.
