Old 74 Fox Preserve

The Southland Open once again lived up to all expectations. The first day of running started with a huge thunderstorm. No one was sure how the dogs would react to the storm but, fortunately, it didn’t seem to bother them at all. There were 5 of the 15 top HOY in attendance trying to gain those HOY points. The judges were steadfast in their mission and braved the elements in good spirit! The next few days brought fantastic running weather with mid 60s in the morning and upper 70s during the five hours of awesome running.

The second day ended with a new Southland Open Derby winner! A big congratulations to P & J’s Croc (Buckshot’s Hardrock/Patterson’s Ginger); Bukskin Creek Kennels, Sedley, VA. Congrats to these guys who always come prepared to compete and win as well as to all who placed!

The last day was a battle to the finish with a mere point separating the top two hounds. In the end, Ch. High Cotton Colt (Rose’s Lil Norman/Brooke’s Princess); High Cotton Kennels, Rocky Point, NC was declared the Winner! Congratulations to all who placed.

As always, we would like to thank the MOH Gary Riddick, BSJ Richard Langley, Ring Master Scott Harvey, and all the judges for their hard work and dedication. A big thanks to Mike Carr with Pride, Randy McGovern and Moose Jowers with Showtime for your unwavering support which is greatly appreciated by all!
