The "Hitch Hiker" is a joint effort over the last several months between myself and a good friend . The idea came about after seeing and hearing of people running both the RF transmitter and the Garmin on seperate collars. This transmiter weighs in at 3.2 ounces, has changeable battery, changeable antenna, under collar magnet and is held onto the DC40 collar with 2 standard screws. Pictures of the "Hitch-Hiker" can be seen on any of the coon hound message forums, like (UKC) message board or (PKC) prohound message board.

Price has not been finalized but guessing it will be around $125 for transmitter along with attachment items. I'm hoping to have everything finalized in a couple weeks.
"Hitch-Hiker"
Changeable Battery.
Changeable Antenna.
Add's only 3.2 ounces of weight to DC40.
The 'Hitch-Hiker" transmitter should put an end to worrying about the Garmin loosing signal or battery going dead. I have been swamped by phone calls, messages, pm's and text's wanting to know the details of the "Hitch-Hiker"since posting this earler . Hope to have a date these will be for sale and more detailed pictures in a couple weeks, working out a few bugs.
Thanks for all the interest.
Mike
The "Hitch-Hiker" can be seen at several vendors booths during the SETWA Days coon hunt in Salisbury N.C. on Feb 22-23. These will be here for your inspection only, cannot be purchased until a later date.

Mike

Unbelivable in the amount of interest that has been shown in the 'Hitch-Hiker" by hunters that run on the outside and run a back up (beep-beep) transmitter along with the Garmin.
Those of you running a changeable battery collar the "Hitch-Hiker" will fit right onto a regular collar and work perfect as just a regular changeable battery tracking collar.
The "Hitch-Hiker" was developed to run on a Garmin DC40 collar as a backup transmitter. It weighs in at 3.2 ounces, comes with changeable battery , changeable antenna, and under collar magnet. Powered by 1/2 AA 3.6 volt lithium battery that provides 600+ hours of run time and is easily changed and can be purchased at your hunting supply dealer. Comes in most frequencies 155-221 mhz.
"Hitch-Hiker" will come mounted on a new dayglo collar ( color of choice ) , one year warranty on transmitter and shipped to you . $130

If you are presently running two collars one with a tracking collar mounted on it and the other with the Garmin DC40 collar this little transmitter will eleminate one collar.

Could not get a pic to post on Masterfox, however pic of the "Hitch-Hiker" are on several of the coon hunting website message boards. Go to UKC website and look under vendors on their message forum and pic can be seen or send me an email and I will email a pic.
Thanks
If running a regular tracking collar as a back up to your DC40 eliminate a collar by adding the "Hitch-Hiker" to your DC40 collar.
Lots of hunters that run the outside are going to the "Hitch-Hiker". If concerned how this transmitter will work along with the DC40 give me a call and I will give you names of people to call that have been using the "Hitch-Hiker" since day one.
Thanks

If running a DC40 and also a regular tracking collar this will eliminate one collar by combing both the DC40 and the "Hitch-Hiker" on one collar. Plus running just one collar only adds 3.2 ounces of weight instead of 10.

Just received a call yesterday from a guy in LA inquiring about the "Hitch-Hiker" that lost a hound to drowning . The DC40 signal was lost and he was able to recover the hound by the "beep-beep" collar transmitter that was also on the hound. Just one of many reasons more and more hunters are going back to running both transmitters on their hounds.
If concerned about those " ? " that keep popping up on your Garmin handheld take the worry out by addding this little transmitter to your dc40 collar and get that extra security for your hound.

Thanks to the ones that have puchased the 'Hitch-Hiker".
Can they be run on the collars for the Alpha system and what is the range on these transmitters
Countyline Kennels
Sorry, these cannot be mounted on the Alpha system collars, they were developed for the DC40. As for the range this transmitter will get around the same distance as a typical tracking collar( Johnson,QT,Rats,Wildlife).
Thanks
Anyone knows on what frequency the DC40 transmits? I am using a DC40 with Astro 320 and I have an idea to hack into the system and instead of watching the data on a handheld, throw it to a computer screen... anyone done that before?

Thanks to all that have purchased the "Hitch-Hiker" since it introduction earlier this year.
