I got a dog with crusty places on the inner ear flap and around the edges pretty bad. After I rubbed some of the crust of it looks like reddish, inflamed places. Dog constantly shakes its head as if it itches. I've put Ivomec in each ear to treat for mites but I can't get rid of the crusty places and dog stil slashes it's head all the time. Any help would be great. Thanks!
Sounds like a bacterial infection...very common for dogs to get on inner ear lobes. Best treatment is Cephalexin, prescribed in dosages of 10 to 15 milligrams per pound of weight and should be given every eight to 12 hours.
