The Top Gun “shootout” is only 2 weeks from cast and the draw list is up to 49 different kennels. The competition level is setting up to be extraordinary, with as many as 6 of the current top 10 and 8 of the top 20 hounds being present and ready to run head to head. Not only will 8 of the top 20 hounds be present, but 8 of the top 20 kennels from Virginia to Louisiana will also be present to rub elbows. The energy and excitement at the first day’s score board will be electric.
With the Top Gun being a Grade 1 hunt for Leaderboard points and worth 450+ pts to the winner, placement of hounds could definitely move them towards the top spots for yearend awards. The report after Hurricane Matthew is Old 74 sustained almost no damage from the flooding and the running has not slowed down.
