What state has the most favorable laws to protect our hounds from idiots who want to shoot them. I had a dog shot recently and in Alabama it is legal to shoot any dog that is not on a chain or in a pen. Just want know what the laws are in other states.

We need to change the law. I would need to look at other state laws to know what would be the best way to pursue that change.

I have known of court cases in miss. and la. that resulted in hugh fines and payment for the hound. in fact, miss. had a few recent cases in the past 5 yrs.

Mississippi has been known to be for the hound and hunter. But alot has to do with county you are in at the time, judge, and who is involves. I was had a hound shot a few years ago. Guy admitted to it to the officer there. Once it made it to court the judge threw it out for lack of evidence. But I seen people be paid large amounts for the exact same episode.
