WHAT: This is the Oldtimers' hunt that had to be postponed last spring due to the tornado that hit the Plantation Foxpen in Aimwell, La.

WHEN: October 24,25,26, 2017.

WHERE: Sugar Creek Foxpen, Ansley, La.(GPS: 2750 Keppler Creek Rd., Ruston, La)

WHO: Any forks-of-the-creek foxhunter/wolfhunter 65 years of age or older.

DETAILS: Two nights of old time foxhunting. Hunters can cast as many dogs as they care to bring. Only hounds cast the first night are eligible to be cast the second night. Oldtimers not wanting to bring hounds are welcome too, as we expect to have some dead dog races of years ago.

CAST/CALL OFF TIMES: 11PM to 8AM, both nights (TEUSDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT).

HOUND FEES: $10/hound regardless if it is cast one or both nights. There is no limit
on the number of hounds a hunter can bring.

FACILITIES: The camp at Sugar Creek has rural water, electricity, hot showers, restrooms, hookups for three campers (no sewerage connections), a small kitchen and bunkhouse. Firewood will be provided. Hunters should bring their cots and bedrolls, stake chains, water buckets, feed and feed pans. Those needing a motel can find them in Ruston about 20 minutes from the pen.

TO DATE WE HAVE OVER TWENTY CONFIRMATIONS FROM OLDTIMERS COMING WITH AND WITHOUT HOUNDS. WE EXPECT ALMOST THAT MANY MORE BY THE TIME THE HUNT GETS HERE ON OCTOBER 24. IT IS GOING TO BE LIKE AN OLD TIME CAMP HUNT--LOTS OF RUNNING, LOTS OF STORIES (FICTIONAL AND NONFICTIONAL), AND LOTS OF MEMORIES OF HOUNDS AND HUNTERS WHO HAVE PAST ON. THERE IS LOTS OF GAME IN THE PEN, AND THERE IS NOT A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF HOUNDS YOU CAN BRING. WHETHER YOU CAN COME FOR ONE NIGHT OR TWO, WITH OR WITHOUT HOUNDS, IT WILL BE FUN!!

THE OLDTIMERS' HUNT IS POSTPONED TO NOVEMBER 14,15,16, 2017 AT THE REQUEST OF THE SUGAR CREEK FOXPEN OWNERS. BY THAT TIME, THE WEATHER SHOULD BE COOLER AND HOPEFULLY WETTER. I APOLOGIZE IF THIS CAUSES ANY INCONVENIENCE FOR ANY OF THE HUNTERS WHO HAD PLANS TO ATTEND THIS MONTH.

oldtimers, we are good on game in the pen. we have put over 20 yotes in there over the past 3 weeks and running them with puppies. we are adding a few more today. also I think it will be fairly cool weather for the hunt so bring some oak wood for a fire. we have plenty of pine but short on other fire wood. we are adding some bunk bed in camp for the hunters and should be finish this week. we look to have a good hunt.

hope you hunters can make the hunt. we have put more game in pen since last week. should be good if we can get some rain. plan to be there.

old timers hunters, we have new game in the pen so please do not bring real aggressive hounds for the hunt. you know what hounds you have that fit this condition. also bring some oak wood if you can because most hunters want a fire. we have some wood but maybe not enough for two nights. please consider request about the aggressive hound because game is hard to get and expensive.

thank to everyone who came to the hunt. we had 19 hunters who turn loose 77 hounds. we had some great fellowship and some good times around the fire. the running was good at various times thru out the nights but need more time to really get right. we saw some good hounds with good mouths. the good lord bless us with great weather. we plan to get back on schedule in april of 2018. the food was outstanding and around 36 hunters came to eat and visit the first night. thank again.
