Denied a champion !

I was just wondering how many times does this or has this happened?
Has anyone been denied a champion because the results have not been sent in on time ,or they were lost in the mail , or misplaced at the chase ?!?!
Well it's happened to me 3 times !!!
Once back in 2004 , I won the Santa Rosa with Cooley's Comanche and didn't find out until I tried to register a litter of pups off of him , a few years later, that he was not a champion because the chase never received the results of that hunt !

In 2017 I won the Santa Rosa with Cooley's Lacey and was denied a championship title because only part of the results were sent in !

In 2018 I won the Santa Rosa, again with Cooley's Lacey and just found out that she was denied yet once again because the chase never received the results for the hunt !
This year she won feild and dual !!

3 times , 3 different presidents , 3 different secretary's , 3 different master of hounds , 2 different dogs !

Now I can only speak for myself when I say that I've never seen a set of papers jump a fox or that having a title makes it a better hound !
But I will say that the reason I go to 3 day hunts are to compete and try to prove my hounds worthy of a title .
I'm not sure if it's worth all of the work , time and effort to do this and have it left in the hands of someone else to decide weather or not your dog receives its deserved title !
I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else and what's yalls thoughts on this ???

Re: Denied a champion !

Yes it did happen to me. That's all I'm gonna say about it.

Re: Denied a champion !

Bet at those 3 different hunts they didn't have any issues taking your entry fee money!!! I think you should call out all 3 presidents and secretaries and have them post an explanation. A real shame is what it sounds to be, or possibly some type of collusion. Get all your facts, dates, and ect together, post it, and then start calling them out for an explanation!

Re: Denied a champion !

My chase papers says SRos(d)Ch Cooleys Comanche are did he win it twice

Re: Denied a champion !

He made field champion at one hunt and dual champion at another hunt. He was denied his field championship.

Re: Denied a champion !

Sounds like you need to stay away from that hunt

Re: Denied a champion !

I can’t speak for years past, but for the 2018 Hunt, the Secretary did exactly as she was supposed to. Christy Freeman and I personally helped her. I can’t help you with past years, but we’ll help you get your Championship this year. This one was not on her!

Re: Denied a champion !

I haven't blamed anyone or accused anyone and I don't have the facts , but it may be where it's being mailed to . That's why I was asking if anyone else has had this problem or how often does it happen .????
Put yourself in my shoes sky , what if flo had been denied two years in a row .

Re: Denied a champion !

Nobody is blaming the secretary!! This post was to see if anyone had the same problem in the past, with any hunt!!! We are completely aware that the secretary is working on this problem now. Damian and I have both talked to her and thanked her numerous times for trying to resolve the issue now that she is aware. However, this should be an easy task. Meaning, the secretary shouldn’t have to send the papers multiple times because they are somehow not making it to the chase. The hunters shouldn’t have to triple check to make sure everything is handled correctly. There has to be a better way!

No matter the hunter or the hound-THIS SUCKS!!!!

Re: Denied a champion !

Seems like the problem is on the receiving end not on the hunt side.

Re: Denied a champion !

Damian and Jessica,
It’s unlike me to even get on here and comment . I never said you or anyone has blamed the Secretary. I know in past years at different hunts, the Secretary failing to send in the reports has been the issue that hounds have been denied their Championship. Someone mentioned in your comments that you may want to stay away from this hunt, which led to my comment of this one not being the Secretary’s fault. I knew that personally with Christy and I helping her. I am 100% on your side and just want you to know, that even though I’m not the Secretary or an officer in this association, that I’m helping the Secretary get to the bottom of this. With this being her first year as a Secretary, she’s never faced an issue like this before with “the powers that be.” I have...unfortunately more than one time. I’m working for you. If you have any questions, give me a call tomorrow. We’re going to get to the bottom of this for you. 👍🏼

Re: Denied a champion !

UPS! They provide a tracking number. Someone has to sign at a business. Then you call The Chase a few days later, and say is everything complete. After that it's on The Chase.

does the chase still require you to mail the results in?

Re: Denied a champion !

David. Yes. The report has to be reviewed for errors before a championship is granted. There is a 90 day period from the time a hunt is completed for the Secretaries to get the reports in for review. Hope this is helpful.

Re: Denied a champion !

Thanks Sky for working so hard today with the chase to get this resolved for us! We appreciate you!

Re: Denied a champion !

Any chance they got 2017 Santa Rosa straightened out? Had a bench Ch last year that was denied..

It’s called Technology. There’s absolutely no reason to be mailing this stuff in. Email works fine. I bet the chase still requires hand written breeder certificates too

Re: Denied a champion !

Damien, you always desreve a champion when you win. Always count on your directors and officers to make sure it is counted. It is their responsibility to follow the rules, you can blame the Chase or mail but 200 get awarded every year with no problem. I hope that his gets corrected for you.

Re: Denied a champion !

Aaron, you have another one that was denied a "champion" at your house because the reports were not sent in.

Re: Denied a champion !

Just my two cents worth, but if pens would be suspended for failure to submit paperwork in a timely fashion, they would strive to get there proper paperwork turned in to the proper organizations in a timely fashion.
If they were denied to hold sponsored events for 1-2 years, these problems would stop. But we all know thats not going to happen, because said organizations reap the bemefits, erregardless is if paperwork is handled propery. Wouldnt be popular with pens or organazations, but i assure you, you wouldnt be cheated out of the hard you and your hound put into the training, hours, and exspences you worked so hard to prepare for.

Just my two cents

Re: Denied a champion !

It's not a problem with the pens as much as it is with said associations that are putting on the events. Most hunts are held with the pen being leased to them for the hunt. Can't hardly punish the pens for something the association failed to do such as not turning in paperwork or not advertising the hunt.

Re: Denied a champion !

As the president of the santa rosa I want to say that I am deeply sorry for not being able to respond to any of the above I have been out of town for the past three weeks on some wildfires in Oregon I have answers for the 2017 year yes results were taken up were they sent off no they were not the secretary at the time continued to tell me numerous times that she had done so and when I never seen them hit either the chase or the horn I had contacted the chase to see if they had received anything for that year and they told me no and at the point it was too late to try to get things straightened out which therefore I apologize which is why we voted in a new secretary which has been a blessing in it's own because our current secretary is one of the best for the job she stays on top of things 10x better than the previous one as for years past i cant speak for but please do not make this a judgement of not coming to our awsome hunt we put on every year I have strived my best to make this hunt better and better every year since I took the oath of being president this hunt is one of the best outside hunts you can come too and anyone that has attended will tell you so once again I apologize for everything that has took place on behalf of the association and will be available if anyone has any questions
