As we get closer to the end of the 2023 Leaderboard year, the 2023 HOY championship is very much up for grabs. We have one of the closest year end HOY races since the inception of this program and its not just between 1-2 hounds but upwards of 8-10 hounds. The past month has been exceptional, with all 5 of the top 5 hounds in the country placing in trials. Lots of great hounds have placed multiple times and the points below tell the tale. We have just a few trials remaining for 2023, which ends November 30, 2023. With the few trials remaining, 3 (Top Gun, AIRHC and World Cup) have Grade 1 points value, giving the 1st place HOY as much as 450 points down to 300 for 10th place, so there's no doubt the champion may not be crowned until the final day of running this year.
