One Day Leaderboard Rules For 2024 (1 Day HOY/KOY/BOY)

The Masters 1-Day Leaderboard is a separate Leaderboard awards program established to recognize the best 1-day Hounds, owners and breeders and points will be calculated and kept separate with the Multi-day Master’s/National Leaderboard Program. The start of the 1-day Leaderboard year will begin December 1st of each year and end November 30th each year with the exception of the World Cup event. The World Cup will be the final field trial each year and last opportunity for a hound and owner to receive 1 day option and 3-day points for any given year.

The Master’s 1-Day Leaderboard awards program was established as an extra incentive to improve and promote quality breeding of field trial hounds under the Master Running Rules (Speed and Drive 5 or 10 minute points system), as well as being an informative tool for those interested in statistics. Most of the work is done on a voluntary basis and it is the responsibility of the hunters to review and follow-up on field trial result postings to ensure correctness.

The Masters Corporation would also like to state that we sincerely discourage any association or facility from attempting to host and mix a Masters 1-day event (Leaderboard eligible) with a Fundraising/Benefit field trial that supports a communities special cause and needs. We strongly encourage trials supporting fundraisers for charities and individuals needing assistance, but let all 100% of the money raised go toward the fundraiser and consider hosting a separate event to the individuals whom are competing for year-end leaderboard points. We understand Houndsmen and women are very caring and gracious people and we believe individuals should select their events to attend and where their money goes.

For Questions or concerns feel free to contact:
LEADERBOARD RULES & AWARDS COMMITTEE.

1. Any facility throughout the US and Canada may host a Masters 1-day field trial event.

2. A “stand alone” Masters 1-day field trial event must run a minimum of 4 hours and have a minimum of 30 entries for the event to be eligible to be counted for HOY/KOY year end points.

*Any Field trial run less than 4 hours or does not meet the minimum number of 30 entries will not be counted within the yearly standings.

3. Master’s 1-Day Field Trials judged as “Buddy Hunts” are not eligible to be counted in Master’s 1-Day leaderboard standings.

4. All Master’s 1-Day Field Trials will pay $25 (as an affiliation fee) to The Masters Corp. and $5 per hound entered in any 1-day event. The Entry fee will be left up to individual affiliate trial and/or facility with $5 going towards the end of the year Leaderboard awards. If a field trial association already pays a $50 Master’s affiliation fee for a 2 or 3-day event and is offering a 1-day “option”, then no extra $25 fee will be paid.

5. There is “NO” option at a Masters 1-day field trial for a hound to not be included. If an association/facility hosts a Masters 1-day event, then All hounds entered into the event are automatically included in Masters 1-day stand alone field trial and eligible to receive points if placing in the Top 10 S&D.

a. Associations cannot advertise a “entry fee” of XX dollars and then charge extra money to the participants to cover leaderboard fees when entries are taken. If an event advertises a $50 entry fee, then the $50 should cover any pen fee, leaderboard fee and awards/prizes given away.

6. All field trials must be advertised.
a. Field trial advertising deadlines: All trials must be advertised 14 days prior to the first days running. Field trials can be advertised on the website HYPERLINK "http://www.masterfox.net" www.masterfox.net or the Masterfox group page on Facebook. If a field trial puts on a 1day hunt only, the same rules for advertising will apply. Even though Field trials can be advertised in the Hunters Horn Magazine any 2-day or 3-day hunt will still need to Advertise on the website www.masterfox.net or Masterfox group page on Facebook. The add must state 1-day option (the hunter has the right to enter the option or not) or all included (meaning fees are added to entry fee and all entries are included).

7. All field trials must be run under the Master’s scoring format and Must follow all Masters scoring Rules except:

a. Field trials not utilizing the Masters scoring format will not be counted.
b. Field trail blankets can be used for stand alone 1 day field trial event BUT blankets must have white or black numbers only. Field trial coordinators shall not allow hounds to participate with any pink, chartreuse, or other colors on blankets and if a hound is allowed to run, points will not be counted for individual hounds, kennels and breeders.
c. NO multi-day field trial can run blankets for the 1 day portion. All hounds entered in a multi-day field trial event must have “White” or “Black” painted #’s.

8. Only field trials that have paid an affiliation fee with the Masters will be able to qualify and have points calculated.

9. All events for the Master’s 1 day must use the Masters Computer scoring program. This format will be used in case a protest is initiated: a. the MASTER’S GRAND TOTAL POINTS or HGA computer scoring program.

10. The top 20 hounds and Kennels will be recognized each year at the headline Master’s Leaderboard Banquet held in conjunction with the Masters Field Trial event. The top standings will be periodically updated on the Masterfox group page on Facebook and/or www.masterfox.net.

11. When a multi 2 day and/or 3-day event offers a 1-day option at entry, the hounds wishing to participate/enter the 1-day option portion Must Still Pay the Full Field Trial entry plus the 1-day option fee to Enter the event (No One can pay for just the 1 Day option portion of the entry fee and run).

12. When a multi 2 day and/or 3-day event offers a 1-day option, the top 10 speed and drive hounds that enter the 1-day option inside of these field trial will be recognized regardless of their placing among the rest of the field.

13. In multi 2 day and/or 3-day events, only the hounds that enter the 1-day option will be awarded 1st thru 10th regardless of their placing among the rest of the field the first day. If the field trial is a 2 Class then the top 10 in each class (derby & AA) will be recognized after day 1 of the field trial.

14. Only the hounds that a kennel enters at a given field trial will count towards the Kennel of the Year. The borrowing of hounds or registering of someone else’s hounds on your entry sheet is prohibited and will result in forfeit of all points.

15. All 2024 field trial results and related information (location, dates, number of entries, etc.) must be posted on www.Masterfox.net or Masters Facebook page within 30 days from the last day that the trial was run so that information can be reviewed for correctness and standings kept current. Anyone not having access to a computer can mail results and all field trial information within the 30 days to the contact below. Information received via mail will also be posted on www.masterfox.net or Masterfox Group Page on Facebook for review.

16. When posting or sending in field trial results, make sure all information from the Top 10 is included or complete such as Hound Names, Sire, Dam and Kennel. ENTRY NUMBERS separated by Derby and AA are very important. The date the trial was ran and facility it was held. If using a Kennel name, make sure the Kennel name is used not the individual’s name. Remember: MAKE CLEAR THE NAME OF THE TRIAL WHEN SENDING IN LEADERBOARD FEES and posting results because many field trials have similar names and some associations have multiple trials.

17. Field trial results not posted or received within 30 days may be disqualified from being eligible for that year’s annual awards. Disqualification of any field trial is at the discretion of the 1-day leaderboard committee. Mistakes must be corrected within 10 days from being posted or results will stand as posted.

18. Trials/ hunters/hounds will not receive points if Leaderboard fees are not paid, if trials are not advertised on Masterfox.net or The Masters Facebook page and if trial results are not posted or sent to the contact and address listed above.

19. 2024 KENNEL REGISTRATION GUIDELINES FOR K.O.Y. –
REGISTRATION IS BY JAN 31, 2024 on the www.masterfox.net.

*ALL KENNELS wanting to compete for 1-Day Year End KENNEL OF THE YEAR (KOY) AWARDS, MUST REGISTER THEIR KENNEL WITH THE LEADERBOARD KENNEL REGISTRY. Kennels will register on the same page as the 2- and 3-day leaderboard.
*This registry is AT NO COST TO YOU OR YOUR KENNEL BUT in order for us to keep track of the kennels and their members, it is a must for the leaderboard and sponsors.

*YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR KENNEL ON THE SAME POST AS THE 3 DAY LEADERBOARD. ANY KENNEL REGISTERED ON THE 3 DAY LEADERBOARD POST WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY INCLUDED AS PART OF THE 1 DAY REGISTATION. IF YOU ARE NOT LISTED HERE ON THIS POST BY JAN 31, 2024 YOU WILL NOT BE REGISTERED OR BE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY YEAR END AWARDS FOR THE LEADERBOARD KENNEL OF THE YEAR IN 2024. . . NO NEW KENNEL MEMBERS CAN BE ADDED AFTER JAN 31, 2024, UNTIL THE FOLLOWING YEAR.

*REGISTRATION PERIOD FOR 2024 WILL BE FROM DECEMBER 20TH UNTIL JANUARY 31ST, Even if your kennel was registered in 2023, YOU MUST RE-DO IT AGAIN FOR 2024

**THE PURPOSE OF KOY IS TO RECOGNIZE AN INDIVIDUAL OR A FEW INDIVIDUALS FOR THEIR ACCOMPLISHMENTS FROM FIELD TRIAL PLACEMENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

**A single kennel can contain up to a MAXIMUM LIMIT OF 4 MEMBERS for registry, based on “RESIDENCY”.
MEANING- NO KENNEL CAN HAVE MORE THAN 4 MEMBERS RESIDING AT SEPARATE RESIDENTS/ADDRESSES. Meaning – Spouses and children DO NOT have to be listed as separate members because it is understood they are part of your family kennel.

** A combination of two kennel names cannot be used beginning in 2024. Example: Low Rider Kennel/Coming at Ya Kennel. A Plus Kennel & Sleepy Eye Kennel is no longer allowed.
Each of these examples represent two separate kennel names. In both examples, only one of the names can be chosen, but not a combination of both. If individuals want “recognition” for their “kennel” or individual accomplishments, then they are encouraged to register separately or choose a “new” name.

Kennel Registration is Simple-

#1. LIST YOUR KENNEL NAME AND AN ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER TO GO WITH IT.

#2. LIST ALL MEMBER(s) OF THE KENNEL.

On FEBRUARY 1st, we will put together the registered list from this post and those kennels and those kennels only will be eligible for yearend awards for KENNEL OF THE YEAR (KOY).
**NOTE- THIS REGISTERY IS FOR KENNEL OF THE YEAR PURPOSES ONLY!! DOES NOT AFFECT ANY AWARDS FOR HOUND OF THE YEAR.

Additionally, you may see YOUR KENNEL LISTED IN THE UPDATES DURING THE YEAR EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED BUT UNLESS YOU ARE REGISTERED HERE BY JANUARY 31, 2024 YOUR KENNEL WILL BE ELIMINATED AT THE END OF THE YEAR WHEN WE FIGURE THE FINAL TOTALS FOR THE AWARDS.

**Any Kennel not following the general rules described above will automatically forfeit their registration and will be disqualified from the yearly standings. Kennels found to be “borrowing” hounds or entering hounds from “unregistered/unlisted” kennel partners for KOY points will automatically be disqualified from the yearly standings. Claiming partial ownership of a hound with an unregistered kennel member does not provide privilege to enter the hound under your kennel and receive points.

20. Once a field trial is advertised to be held on specific dates, regardless of the venue, that trial should be held on those dates. If there is a mistake made in the advertising or if the trial finds the need to change those dates for any reason the trial must make any and all effort to notify the public by running a new ad, if time allows, or if not then via Masterfox.net and Masters Facebook page at least 14 days prior to the field trial in order for the trial to be counted in the Leaderboard points standings.

21. Any field trial (1, 2 or 3 day) wishing to participate in the Leaderboard program must not use any judge currently on the Masters banned list. Any field trial using “banned” judges will not be eligible for points.

22. Any questionable activity such as: Kennel partner’s or immediate family members judging & running in the same field trial, Borrowing of dogs for KOY points, Improper contact with judges during trials, purposeful listing the incorrect breeding on Sires and Dams, etc., etc., must be brought to the attention of the leaderboard committee IN WRITING within 10 days along with $50 after the end of the event in order for items to be reviewed. The leaderboard committee will forward the complaint to the Master’s Review committee lead by Sky Scott. The Master’s Review committee will review and make a decision on guilty or not and the leaderboard committee will follow their direction as to the findings and any impact on the Leaderboard points and standings. If your “claim” was legit and upheld, then you will receive your $50 back.

Contact Information:
TBD

The LEADERBOARD standings for 1 Day HOY/KOY will be kept on an annual basis with periodic updates posted on www.masterfox.net (approximately every 2-3 months). The final standings will be posted in previous year and posted on the various websites. For the purpose of validation, the first day of running will constitute the start date of the field trial.
For clarification:
a. The “calendar” year for the 1 day & multi day Leaderboard programs will begin on December 1 and end on November 30 with the exception of the World Cup.

23. An association can only have one field trial for each $25, however an association can have as many trials as they pay for, provided they have different field trial names and pay the $25 for each one. Any field trial running more than 1 class (Derby/AA) during the same event will only pay the standard $25. Example All-Age and Derby run together scored separately.

24. Facilities can only host one 1-day field trial event per month. But Facilities may also still host additional 2- or 3-day field trials during the same month with the one-day Option offered.

25. It is required that each Master’s one day field trial post the top 10 hounds judge’s sheets at the event and post pictures of the top 10 hounds on the Masterfox Facebook page. Each organization and facility should take pride in keeping the integrity of the 1-day Leaderboard Recognition Program at high level of integrity.

26. Individual HOUNDS and Kennels can earn points towards this award via the point/grades system outlined below. The points for individual field trials can be reviewed yearly, when brought to the attention of the 1-day Leaderboard committee.

27. 1-day HOY/KOY points will be limited to a maximum of (4) 1-day or multi day field trials trails counted from a single “home” pen, plus any 1-day option points from the 4 major Masters corporate trials (Masters, Top Gun, Southern Star & World Cup) held in the same pen. A kennel will have to travel and place at a minimum of 3 different facilities or hunting grounds to achieve the maximum of 12 for year end points calculations.

• HOY has no limit on total field trials counted, only per facility. Hounds that earn points towards 1 day HOY, carry their points for the entire year, regardless of ownership.
• KOY will only count the kennels best 12 field trials throughout the year.

26. Only in the multi 2-day and/or 3-day events, will Field trial associations be allowed to charge extra $$ during entries for anyone wishing to enter their hound into the 1-day option portion. Example: normal Entry fee for The Hunters Horn IL State Classic is $50. An individual can enter the 1-day option for $15 more and it so, then $10 goes for the 1 day pay out at the event to be given out after the first days running and $5 goes to the leaderboard for the end of the year awards.
** Each associations field trial can choose their 1-day entry fee but $5 for each hound entered must be paid to the 1-day Leaderboard.
** Each associations field trial can compete for whatever prizes they choose to award the top 10 such as money, dog feed, trophies, prizes, etc. but $5 must be paid to the Masters 1 day option Leaderboard for every hound entered into the 1 day option. It is the responsibility of the person entering hounds to verify what the prizes are before they enter.

27. Calculating 1-Day HOY/KOY Points: For purposes of points calculation, all trials are placed into one of the following stakes/ grades.

Entries: Multiplier
Multiplier will be the # of hounds entered.
Example:
If 31 hounds are entered into an event or class (derby/AA), the multiplier is .31
If 45 hounds are entered into an event or class (derby/AA), the multiplier is .45
If 99 hounds are entered, the multiplier .99
If 125 hounds are entered, the multiplier is 1.25
• The maximum multiplier is 1.5. If 310 hounds are entered, the multiplier is 1.50
• All outside field trials will have a multiplier of 1.0
