The autumn touring season is upon us.
"Where the cool fall nights make the wood smoke rise, and the fox hunter blows his horn". Don't think the Country Gents ever cut that tune, but it's a good 'un.
In September, we'll be at The Ol' 97 in downtown Amherst VA on Friday, September 2nd. Full menu, great BBQ and home cooked foods, and some locally produced brews to wash it all down. Showtime is 7:30 PM, but come early for good seats and good eats, their events usually sell out. To reserve your space/table, call 434-473-0173
and ask for our show.
The next day we'll be in the beautiful (and historic!) Court Square Theater in Harrisonburg VA. This is sort of a homecoming spot for Dave Propst our mandolin player/vocalist, as he was born many, many, MANY years ago (ducking!) in Harrisonburg. At last count, about 135 seats for this show had already been sold, so it's also likely to sell out, don't wait too late to get your seats. Tickets and info here: http://www.valleyarts.org/
or by phone to their box office 540-433-9189
On Saturday, October 1st, we'll be in Midland, VA performing for the Republican Party rally there, and rumor has it that the presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump may be in attendance. If you're coming to this show, you might want to arrive VERY EARLY, as his rallies attract thousands of people. Hope we get our picture with The Donald! There are three other bands on this show, NRA Country, Southern Persuasion, and Sue Dodge. Scheduled speakers include Newt Gingrich, Ben Carson, Oliver North, and Donald Trump Jr.. For more info, go to www.anamericanevent.com
The very next day, Sunday October 2nd, we'll be appearing close to Mike Phipps hometown in Owings, MD at the Calvert County Fair. Our first show at the fair is at 3:30 PM. Last year we were located across from the white tiger show, so if you're into white tigers, come on out, watch the tigers, have a funnel cake, and listen to some great music. Complete info here: http://calvertcountyfair.com/
Friday, October 14, we'll be headed to Gold Hill NC for a show at the Old Shaver School Event Center. We'll be doing two sets there from 7 PM to 10 PM, along with the great local band The Grass Strings. Tickets in advance are available by calling Vivian at 704-267-9439
. For info and location, click here: http://historicgoldhill.com/old-shaver-school-event-center
Finally, we'll be heading down south again the very next weekend on Friday, October 21st, where we'll bring the Country Gentlemen sound to the stage of the Liberty Showcase Theater in Liberty NC, owned and operated by our friend and long time Clinch Mountain Boy, Dewey Brown. And yes, it's yet again another historic theater that has been renovated for live shows. Again, limited seating is available, so we recommend early purchase. Dinner seating is also available at this venue with advanced ticket/meal purchase. And there are premium VIP seats available for this show. Tickets on line here: http://www.thelibertyshowcase.com/
or by phone 336-622-3844
, $20 for VIP, $15 general admission.
The next day October 22, we'll head down to Guyton GA to Mossy Oak Park bluegrass festival. We seldom get down this way, so we hope to see a lot of our CGTB fans in Georgia. The festival is not too far away from vacation destinations like Charleston SC and Savannah GA, so maybe it's time to plan a LOOOONG vacation weekend! Joining us on the Saturday show are The Kevin Prater Band, and our brothers in bluegrass from the Graham Talent Group, Nothin' Fancy.
