1. Broccoli


Justice Antonin Scalia advanced the prospect of government-mandated broccoli during the Supreme Court’s ObamaCare oral arguments. “Everybody has to buy food sooner or later, so you define the market as food, therefore, everybody is in the market; therefore, you can make people buy broccoli,” Scalia said. The left has long been obsessed with what we put into our bodies—from transfat and salt, to tobacco and red meat. Be prepared for a Department of Eating Healthily, with Michelle Obama in charge.

2. Chevy Volt

General Motors’ Chevy Volt was doomed to fail as consumers did not exactly flock to the showrooms for the overpriced, underperforming vehicle. Production of the Volt has been suspended and the dream of an electric car is endangered. According to the left, oil is evil, therefore the internal combustion engine must go. So be prepared to plug in your government-mandated electric car in order to save the world from global warming.

3. $5 gallon of gas

With Obama placing a good part of America’s energy resources off-limits for development, the price of gas at the pump continues to rise. The higher the better, in order to wean us from our dependence on oil. It shouldn’t be a surprise to see prices rise under this President, as he essentially promised higher energy costs when he was running for office.

4. Contraceptives

Under ObamaCare, everyone will be paying for contraceptives whether they need them or not. The misnamed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandated that contraception be fully covered by health care exchanges, not even costing the recipient a co-pay. That means you will be subsidizing the sexual activity of your neighbors, co-workers, and prostitutes.

5. Inconvenient Truth movie

The left still wants us all to believe that global warming is imperiling the world and would rather not have us dwell on inconvenient inconsistencies in the theory. What with Climategate e-mails, flat temperatures, and scientists speaking out against global warming alarmism, the left is seeing their pet issue peter out. How better to reignite the cause than to require everyone to watch Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth?

6. MSNBC

The Obama administration has virtually declared war on Fox News, taking issue with its hard-hitting coverage. In the past, liberals have flirted with reinstating the Fairness Doctrine, hoping to silence right-wing critics. If emboldened by an Obama re-election victory, attempts to limit Fox and beam MSNBC into everyone’s home could be in the works.

7. Solar panels

President Obama is trying his hardest develop a viable green-energy industry in the United States, funneling billions of dollars to solar-panel makers. The problem is that there isn’t much of a market for the devices and the companies that the president has chosen haven’t done too well—witness the bankruptcy of Solyndra. Get ready for a new push to install the panels in residences throughout America.

8. Union-label goods

Big Labor has Obama in their pocket, witness the GM bailout that was a sweetheart deal for the United Auto Workers and the National Labor Relations Board’s ruling against Boeing building a plant in South Carolina. Expect more of the same with union-made goods getting a leg up over their non-union rivals.

9. Algae

Here is yet another ill-fated idea meant to put an end to U.S. oil dependence: Algae is the fuel of the future. According to President Obama, pond-scum can be harvested and turned into energy to power America. Soon, everyone will be scrapping the green algae from the bottom of their fish tanks.

10. Hoodies

As the Trayvon Martin shooting reached a boiling point, the civil rights lobby has turned the hoodie into the latest symbol of resistance to white oppression. One might expect the President to try to rise above the fray and seek to heal the nation. Instead, Obama’s re-election campaign sent a Twitter message reminding supporters that they could buy an Obama hoodie. The tweet said, “Let everyone know whose team you’re on for 2012 with today’s merchandise steal: the college-style hooded sweatshirt.”

The Democratic Party’s Declaration of Dependence

The belief that no one owes me anything is one of the greatest gifts my hardworking, blue-collar father gave me when I was young. His words carried me through some difficult times growing up, sustained me through widowhood, years back, and helped to shape me into the person I am today.

Once upon a time in America, and not so long ago, my dad’s can-do attitude toward life was common place, until liberals and their faithful following began to understand that immense and everlasting power could be bartered by peddling handouts in exchange for votes.

If liberal politicians know anything, it’s human nature. If you give people things they did not earn from sources from which they did not contribute, those same people will soon become dependent on whatever you give them. Add to that a bit of Machiavellian trickery to redefine those handouts into rights, and voila! You have just created a permanent voting base.

In truth, liberals simply rebranded the definition of what our founders meant when they scribed the words, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” Spinning and twisting the interpretation by suggesting “unalienable rights” are tangibles like health insurance, college educations, and food stamps rather than the intangibles our founders envisioned as “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” liberals transformed the Declaration of Independence into a Declaration of Dependence. Before long, people bought into their lies, believing they had rights to certain “entitlements” simply because they breathed.

Sadly, these lies metastasized within today’s Democratic Party; chock full of liberals so extreme, Blue Dogs have all but disappeared. Now the entire Democratic Party platform revolves around the dangerous and devilishly un-American idea that individuals cannot achieve success without government intervention. They are dead wrong.

That the Democratic National Convention (DNC) would ask Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren to speak at its national convention in September tells us all we need to know about the DNC’s vision for America. Warren’s words spoken in 2011, and so echoed in recent days by President Obama, suggesting it is impossible for Americans to attain success devoid of the federal government is an indictment on how far from the American dream they have fallen.

Ms. Warren further suggests that successful job creators are obligated to an "underlying social contract” in order to “pay [it] forward for the next kid who comes along,” thereby ensuring future generations will never have the ability to stand on their own without the government.

Yall keep on politicing more and more people are starting to understand why they have to vote for OBAMA? I'm not rich and I give to charity's and benefits all the time. It's out of the goodness of my heart knowing they need help. Not for some TAX RIGHT OFF to avoide paying taxes,( if you give $10,000 to a charity then you right it off on taxes is they really giving money or is that taking from all taxpayers?). And the fact is lower income people give a higher % of thier earnings than the rich. I don't care who you are at one time or another someone has helped you down the line. And if GM would have went bankrupt how would you tell another million people to swim or drown? And fact is taxes for ALL are lower than in the history of this democracy. And since when having a cool with the boys is for poor people who don't want to work And what is the rich going do sell thier products back and forth to each other when the middle and lower class can't afford to buy thier products. If I was lucky enough to earn a million a year I would be glad to pay 50% in taxes if thats what it would take for our country to stay strong and free. If you would study history all great empires failed after the top got all the wealth (Greed). Why not have wealth and let everyone earn a little piece of the pie also. Union hands in Baton Rouge Louisiana are about 90-95 percent working. Unions in the southeast are around 75-80 percent working. Maybe stop being a rat and get in a Union to help with a job and better pay and healthcare!!! Everything is not better today than it was 3 years ago BUT 3 years ago was not as good as Clinton years!! TOMMIE its not the private sector unions that is the problem its the service worker or govermnent funded unions that gave the dnc 400 million in 08 that put the community organizer in office. instead of funding programs for the brothern, retirement etc.

It doesn't seem to me union hands are doing any better than the rest of the public. I gave a quick look to the labor statistics for the state of Louisiana it's at around 7.5% for the month of June. So something between 90 and 95% working would be exactly 7.5% not working. Only difference is no body is getting part of my check on a weekly basis.

In January of 2009, Barack Obama promised Americans an "unprecedented" level of transparency in his dealings with the American people and throughout his Administration. Almost four years have passed since that promise, during which time, Americans have witnessed an extraordinary level of deception and obfuscation, all designed to divert attention from the Obama Administration's failure to grow the economy, their failure to create jobs, their failure to curb out-of-control government spending, and their failure to maintain American prestige on the international level.

In fact, Team Obama is basing their entire reelection strategy on a single hope, that while it may not be possible to fool all the people all the time, Barack Obama only needs to fool 50% of the people for another 85 days.

Obama is highly skilled at obscuring the truth. Let’s look at the record:

During his 2008 presidential campaign, Obama claimed that he would create 3.5 million jobs by 2012. 2012 is here and the country faces 8.3% unemployment, or so it would seem. However, the Bureau of Labor Statistics , at the request of the Obama Administration has skewed the numbers, artificially lowering the unemployment rate by changing the measurement metrics, re-categorizing some of the applicants for unemployment and dropping others from the jobless rolls if they have been unemployed for too long. Many estimate that the number is far closer to 13% than 8.3% . So, rather than the transparency promised, the Obama Administration has gone to extremes to obfuscate the true unemployment numbers.

The president has not been transparent about taxpayer investments from the Stimulus and other "special interest" programs. For example, the $574 million dollar investment in the failed, solar panel company, Solyndra, is just the tip of the iceberg. The White House has not revealed the true amount of the wasted dollars from failed "green" jobs programs, nor revealed the true extent of its involvement in these failures. This past week, emails revealed that Obama had direct knowledge of the problems with Solyndra, yet continued to tout the success of "green" enterprises and "green" jobs. Hardly the transparency promised.

Hey Danny why don't you ask one of the BUSINESS OWNERS who put everyone to work why are they HIRING illegal immagrants instead of AMERICANS if they would not hire them I'll bet they would go home, you think? And if everyone would refuse to buy the cheap foriegn made products and suffer for just a month or so by paying a little higher price for AMERICAN MADE Products the stores selling that foriegn made stuff would find American Made products. You say that stuff but have you really checked? Were I went to school if you do not have working middle class people buying your product you have no reason to produce it so why would you hire anyone? I know if I was to build a house to sell I'm going to be pretty sure someone is going to buy it. And Curly I do pay Dues and I still make more money than the nonunion electrician. And, my health insurance or my pension(RETIREMENT) does not come out of my check. And our contractors seem to be doing real good also. I thnk that is a pretty good deal, but thats just me. For those who actually studied the fall of the auto industry might remember that the cost of labor to build a vehicle was 10% of the cost of a vehicle 10%!! What happened to the other 90%. And what I really can't understand is why would a man working with his hands want to tear down another for making more money doing the same thing? The way everyone on hear talks you would think they would want to join them. UNION IBEW SINCE 1986 AND WILL DIE UNION.

Is the unemployment rate as high as it is reported?

I doubt it. Taking into consideration all the variables, at least 5 out of 100 will not work. PERIOD.

You hunters, like myself, are as good as any one of the presidential candidates. You pick one part of the economy and HAMMER AND BASH!

This government and economy is so complex, an expert panel or committee on economics should be at the "TABLE" to help fix this mess.

Another thing, why is Mexican labor even discussed? They will not be mass deported. They will do better in years to come because of the new wave that are on their way to citizenship.

Worm Labor is 10% of the cost of a new vehicle, 30% is paying the pension of the retired union man. I think the labor unions in this country have had there place but with workmans comp, minimum wage, unemployement, and osha there aren't very many situations where they are anything but a cost burden. You say you don't pay for your retirement and your health insurance, where do you think that money comes from? It doesn't come out of thin air, it's your money they are just paying for the insurance and pension with it before you get it, or with your dues. We have a small business and we've worked around bigger towns and the unions have giving us some trouble mostly just yellin and carring on but I know they have destroyed other nonunion companies equipment. I agree with you the problem is poor management at the top not the working man, but when you have the labor cost of $70 for unskilled labor (and some of those are skilled also) there is a problem. Is that what the worker was paid?(47.50) Well that's not what the company has to pay. Thats the difference between Wages and Labor costs. In our business we have to pay a set rate depending on where we are working, then we have to pay like 17% into workmans comp. That means I have to pay the wage rate PLUS the workmans comp, and we don't offer med insurance or retirement which would be even more. So those would be added costs to the company, that the company has to pass on to the consumer.
As to your presidents creating work, you have to compare apples to apples. Look at the unemployement rates vs job creation. If only 4% of people are out of work it's hard to create millions of jobs.
Lets just turn the discussion to this; what has Obama done that's positive for this country? When will this stop being Bush's fault? At what point does Obama have to start running on his record? What happened to his promises, and which ones did he actually keep?
