#'s in hunts?

What are good numbers to get for a hunt? Which ones are easily seen an easily remembered by a judge?

Re: #'s in hunts?

Had an older gentleman tell me probably 25 years ago that numbers that are easily put on are not always the easiest numbers for a judge to remember if they are trying to remember numbers at a crossing. For instance, if a judge is by himself and has no recording device and is just trying to get the first 5-6 hounds and using his memory. He said numbers that have fewer syllables when spoken are easier to remember. For instance, 680 is easier to say and remember than 147 would be. Most would rather paint 147 because it is a little easier to put on. That gentleman judged many, many hunts several years ago. I have thought about that several times and it does make sense. Now many have gone to the blankets or jackets that have a permanent number on them. How times have changed.....
