C&M 2 Day Derby, for some reason these hunts get tougher each year. I thank the Good Lord for getting me through it. It was a typical July (hot & dry). I was thinking about canceling the hunt. I didn’t think I could make it 2 days. It was a tough hunt but the Good Lord was looking out for us. Day one we got some rain before day and it was overcast but day two it was much cooler and a good breeze all 5 hours.
We had a good group of hounds that ran in woods and not in road.
I want to thank Mr. Clyde Sutton for Mastering the hunt and Jody Duval for serving as Assistant Master. They did a great job as always.
The hounds were covered by 15 hard working judges: Clyde Sutton, Pete Warren, Jody Duval, Bill Holden, Scott Mills, Joel Blackmon, Wesley Holloman, Scott Harvey, Kyle Blackmon, D.J. Enzor, Brian Frasco, David Ward, Travis Brooks, Eric Shipman and Josef Ivey. Thank you all for your dedication and hard work. Job well done.
Thank you, Johnny Shaw for making the long drive down to judge the bench show and thank you Jody Duval for serving as ring master. Two more jobs well done as always.
We had a good friendly group of hunters. They seemed to really enjoy getting together. We had some new hunters and I really enjoyed talking to them and hope they will visit C&M again real soon.
Thank you, Ronnie Mace with Value Pak Feed for all you do and for supporting C&M.
Thank you, Ronnie Norris for all you do for the hunters. You are always coming up with different programs all year for the hunters to participate in. A big thank you to the Masters for donating 2 coolers for the high score dog each day. These are very nice coolers, and we really appreciate these donations.
Thank you, Terrie Holden for running the computer and getting everyone on the way home early. Good job and thanks again.
I want to thank my wife and partner Hilda for all the tough stuff done. A 2 day hunt is not all done in 2 days. I know these 3:00am to 9:00pm days get longer for both of us here lately.
The only thing that got me thru was the good help I had. Pastor Jeff Blanton was there both days at 3:30am to help me with the preparation of the meals. First day we did 3 meals and that made for a very long hot day. Wesley Holloman also helped me in the kitchen two days and judged. He was there at 3:30am to help with breakfast and he helped with the other things that had to be done before bedtime.
Thanks to both of you for taking a big load off me and being there when I needed you.
Thanks to all the hunters and to everyone who helped me get things done. It was a good hunt. Until next time and stay safe. Lonnie
