I\'m looking to replace the bridge on my Carvalho Octave Mandolin with a better one, of ebony and bone (or brass) in order to increase the sustain and hopefully help the tone as well. It is 14mm high , one peice and 112mm long with 44mm between outside strings. I\'m wondering what it would cost for you to provide me with something i can fit myself? I\'m a carpenter and would worker but not a luthier. Please let me know......Gary Arnold Courtenay BC |

Hi, thank you for all your posts. I was wondering if I could get your thoughts on re-creating the Picard bracket for a old Gibson F4 mandolin Also if you had a recommendation for a good case does not have to be one of the fancy Flight cases just something solid. Much appreciated, Gary 415-509-5050 |

Hi Dave, I recently bought a \'gazouki\' made by someone called Phil Williams who, I believe, was from Devon. When I bought it, it looked like the bridge (fixed, like a guitar bridge) was lifting a bit. I was in London at the time and took it to a luthier for repair. It seemed fine, but I\'ve just got back from 6 weeks away and it looks like the tension on the bridge is pulling the whole body out of shape. The lower part of the front looks like it\'s bulging and there\'s definitely more space behind the bridge than there was. Is this something you could/would look at? We did correspond briefly some years ago but I can\'t remember where in France you\'re based. Thanks Jonti |

I have about 5 issues I am needing help with on a 1900-1910 Domenic Zanoni bowl-back. My first attempt at this I listed them all in detail and this mail system freaked out! So I won\'t again! |

Dear Dave, I am a luthier and an academic researcher from Turkey. I am currently working on a thesis regarding mandolin construction practices. I am writing to kindly ask for your permission to use some of the historical information and images from your website in my research. I have also sent a detailed email to you regarding this request. I would be honored to hear from you. Best regards. |

Hello! I recently acquired an old Balalaika from Russian and it happened to unfortunately have some rather worn out tuning cogs for the tuning mechanism. The rest of the body work is perfectly well and healthy but I was wondering if you might be able to help find replacement parts or perhaps create a replacement mechanism for the instrument? Thanks! |
