I recently bought a 2nd hand Fylde octave mandolin direct from the factory in Penrith (I can provide pics). The tailpice is made for ball end strings and is much easier to use than loop end models. I also have a Fylde touchstone mandolin which I would like to fit with a similar tailpiece - Roger at Fylde not co-operating - says it wouldn\'t look right!! I suspect it was made for a cittern or similar as there are 10 string slots. Do you know of any similar tailpieces? I\'m only a short drive away from luthier Eddie Green so fitting would not be a problem |

Hello Dave. I found an old mandolin in my parents-in-law attic. It must be around 40 years old(as they said to me). Inside the bowl, it is written \"Francesco Catania\" but not an exact date. They said it was an italian one. It definitely needs a new headstock, the top is a bit tilted inwards, and there is a little whole between the bow staves and the fretboard. My question is, would it be worth to repair ? Could i send to you some photos in order to evaluate its condition ? If yes, could you make the repair and what would the cost be ? Thanks in advance, Nikos from Greece. |

I am working on two mandolins: Lyon & Healy bowl back and A. Galiano bowl back. I am looking for fretboards, bridges/saddles, tail pieces and nuts appropriate for both, and a set of tuners for the L&H. Please let me know whether you have any or point me to a source. Thank you for your time. |

Hey Dave, I\'m working on a custom instrument, trying to finish ASAP. Looking for a vintage style tailpiece for an elven-inspired instrument... Bouzouki-inspired but it\'s a 6-string. Need tailpiece ASAP. I\'m in the USA. Could I use a 5- or 8- or even 4-string tailpiece with a 6 string instrument, and just attach the two middle strings through a single post or something? or have the strings fan out instead of going straight down or fanning in? Thanks for your advice. Hope you have a tailpiece that works for this project! |

I\'m looking for a wide tailpiece to allow me to convert a customer\'s old terz-size guitar to a mandolin/mandola. The nut width is 43mm, so standard mandolin tailpieces are to narrow. Thanks in advance! |

I would like help gathering information about and restoring a Mandolin that has been in the family for decades. Hard to read (but I will try better) but I believe the larger print on the label inside says “Made in the USA” and “Victrola” |

I’ve a bowl back mandolin by Mario Caselli. Looking to sell £20. Condition is good for age. Split in bowl back and fairly common minor defects which I doubt would be difficult. Missing mother of pearl around most of the rim and a spot on the decoration. Wonder if interested. |
