I think of the thylacine often. It’s strange, knowing that I have family members who walked this earth when the thylacine did. It’s sad, knowing that they were taken from the world — by humans themselves — in that very same lifetime. I’m often torn between marveling at the inherent beauty of such a wonderful and unique animal, and crying out at the tragedy of losing them. How many people knew of the loss at the time? How many people cared? The same thing happens every day, with other incredible animals that only a select few people seem to care for. Extinctions that cannot be undone. I miss an animal I never got to truly know, but I miss them all the same.

Thank you for this very informative website. The tragic story of humans\' treatment of such a unique creature needs to be widely known as a lesson not to be repeated. Your thylacine museum serves a great purpose.

What can I say. I am so saddened (have been since I was a boy and realised the meaning of extinction) that the magnificent Thylacine no longer exists. What a terrible thing we have done. I hope that, before I die, the quest to resurrect the Thylacine through DNA technology will be successful.

I read with great interest about the thylacine......It saddens me that these poor animals were hunted into extinction... And treated very badly as well... kept in conditions that I am sure PETA would get involved with.......... I am glad at least there are pics a and few films showing this extinct beautiful animal...... poor things...
