I remember you and your beautiful wife when you taught and coached at Marian High in Owatonna. Congratulations on having a special day named for you at Xavier High School. I still have a recipe that your wife gave me. I just found this info on my iPad.

Coach Breitbach,

Congratulations on all of your Hall of Fame inductions and the 60 years of service and dedication you have given to our Catholic Community. You deserve all those accolades and more!
It was your inspiration and guidance that helped me through my early years in life and in trying to emulate you in later years from the lessons you taught all of us. You always had my respect and admiration in how you not only treated me but everyone that you came in contact with. I enjoyed coaching with you at Regis HS and it was because of that experience that I decided to continue to coach for the Regis/Lasalle Middle Schools. In the many years I have known you, you taught me not only how to become a better athlete and student at Regis but also to be a mentor to young men like you were to me as I grew older. It’s always a pleasure to still see you and talk with you at the Xavier games with Kitty. God bless you and your family!

Mr. Breitbach,

Thank-you so much for your dedication to Catholic Education, athletics and most importantly, to kids.
I feel so lucky to have been a senior on your first team as Regis’ Head Basketball Coach. Not only did you drastically change the culture and fortunes of boys basketball at Regis, but you also impacted so many lives, including mine. In my 39 years in education, I have often reflected on the strong, selfless manner in which you conducted yourself and I have aspired to do the same.

It’s nice to be well liked in education and athletics (which you were), but what is even more impressive is the universal respect that students, parents, staff, competitors and your former athletes have for you. You were fair and honest and you challenged us to be our best. Your strength and conviction allowed you to conduct the tough, but necessary, conversations with your teams to keep them on a team-centered path. I am eternally grateful for the examples you provided.
I wish you and all your family the best and I look forward to the next time our paths cross.

Thanks, for all you have done for Regis and Xavier. I remember you as Mr. Breitbach. I think you taught my Civics class some 50 years ago at Regis. I remember you as always kind and approachable! 60 years of service is quite an achievement. Congratulations, and thanks!

Thank you Coach for your tremendous commitment to all of us. I remember you as an antidote to Coach Good. Kind of a bad cop good cop approach. I always think of you as incredibly committed but also incredibly kind. I am grateful that I got to share a piece of your life journey. Blessings to you and your family. Hendy

Coach Breitbach ... congratulations on celebrating your sixty years of service! I can truly say I was blessed to have been able to play for you and Coach Good. You were a great coach that did not play favorites and your players appreciated that fact. We all knew the expectations and wanted to play hard for our school, but we really wanted all the coaches to appreciate our effort. Your practice preparations both physical and mental allowed your players to be able to perform their best. You taught me to prepare like a winner, play like a winner, and be humble and gracious in victory. Thank for everything you did for me ... you are the best!

You\'re a true role model for all the lives you\'ve touched and the respect you\'ve earned. You deserve all the honor and appreciation you are getting. As for memories...It\'s always been nice talking to you. Also, I have not forgotten the kind words you had to say when you wrote me a reference coming out of college...not sure I deserved that! Glad you and I shared some memories of the Regis gym getting loud at a few basketball games back in the day. And no, obviously we wouldn\'t have won with Sister Carmelita coaching instead of you and Mr. Kramer! I have enjoyed reading the other messages here, especially ones like from your daughter Kathy who wrote nice things about you but also the support of Kitty and others. Thank you for all you have done for me and the countless others you have helped along the way. You\'re first-class. Congratulations.

Mr. Breitbach

Congrats on your 60 years of service to Catholic education and thank you for this commitment. In high school I recall helping in the main office and the appreciation you had for those that volunteered. You helped to reinforce what made a great community and that was our common faith and support for one another. You are the real deal as you consistently show our Xavier community through your words and actions just how much you care. Please know how much we appreciate you!

Coach B, it’s never been a secret how much I have admired the man that you are! Your heart for people, your commitment to family & player, and your dedication to living and coaching with character are things that left an indelible impression upon me. The man I am today was without a doubt shaped by the time we spent together. The conversations we had, my witnessing of your interactions with others & your selfless acts of service. I remember telling myself on numerous occasions that I hoped to grow up and become a man like you. It can never be overstated the impact that mentors like yourself have on all of us. I know I am just one of the many you have touched & your legacy includes our lives. I am forever grateful for our relationship and for your choice to serve all of us in the numerous roles you held. God has blessed all of those that week fortunate to know you. Enjoy your day & know that all of us are celebrating with your from afar! Love you Coach

Grandpa, there are not enough words I could right that could accurately describe the impact you’ve had on so many people. Your dedication to this community is apparent, and I know many people, including me, are grateful for your presence in their lives. Some of my fondest memories of when I was young was getting to go to your basketball practices, traveling with the team on the bus, going to team dinners, etc. And I could tell, even at a young age, that so many people respected you. Thank you for everything you’ve done, we are lucky to have you.

Growing up in the late 70\'s and early 80\'s, my twin and I dreamed of someday playing for Good and Breitbach and got to enjoy an incredible time with regards to sports in the metro. There were some nights/games where the anticpiation for the matchup was such that the gym was sold out during the sophomore game (and if you were unaware and waited to get to the future \"Dick Breitbach Gymnasium\", well, you were outta luck). Nothing better than Coach Breitbach getting in your face and challenging you...if only I could have taken him with me to college ball, where \"it\'s your job to get ready\" (give me Coach Breitbach instead all day long). Much thanks and love to the Breitbachs from the Schultes sports but also for all things Catholic community as well. Coach Breitbach, a local living legend.

Dick & Kitty,
Thank you for your service and dedication to Catholic Schools, and particularly for being such great role models of faith at St Matthew. During my time at Regis and Xavier, I always loved the days when Dick was on grandkid pickup duty, as it usually meant we got to get updates on sports and usually get to hear a story or two from back in the day. I always valued the perspective you gave. God bless you both!

Is there any better memory for those of us who happily grew up in the 70s and 80s at Regis than the Breitbachs and Mr. and Mrs Breitbach at every single basketball game? What fond memories. I don’t think we knew it back then, but we were all a part of something so wonderful, so unique, that even now it brings such smiles and appreciation. Thanks to the whole Breitbach family for such happy memories. Mari Thinnes Culver, Regis Class of 1983
